In general districts have the following qualities:

Smaller, less expensive costs to teams and event managers
More events for your money
More matches for your money
Shorter events, sometimes only 2 day events
Closer proximity to teams, better visibility in the community
Better chances at winning awards and qualifying for World Championship
Flexibility to attend other district events & regionals in addition to 2 district events
Require volunteer commitment from teams
Require state run organizational committee
